31/8/2009 National Park Penang to Pantai Kerachut

I always wanted to revisit Pantai Kerachut again, as the last time I was there was 6 years ago and many has changed since then. First, the entrance has been renovated, there's now a visitor centre. Secondly, a jetty is there, which allows visitors to take boats to destination like Muka Head, Pantai Kerachut and so on easier. Thirdly, some part of the walkway was renovated. Fourth, many new points of interest was added, and one that intrigues me the most is the Turtle Rehabitation Center which is located at Pantai Kerachut.

So, I departed at 2:00 PM with my brother-in-law, who's also a enthusiast photographer. Two of us, having camera and lens and accessories in a bag which is almost 5KG each to go for the hiking. Before we went to National Park, I have went to grab my Tamron SP90mm f/2.8, which is just the right time for me to use it during my adventurous exploration on the way to Pantai Kerachut through the rain forest.

So, after registered at the visitor center and got our permit, we headed to the walk way and starts our journey. We hike and snap as we heading to Pantai Kerachut, which is 2.9KM away. First, the journey was quite ok, but as we went deeper into the forest, we're getting tired and also some of the path was slippery due to raining season and our improper foot wear - slipper.

After spending around 2 hours hiking and snapping, finally we reached our destination - Pantai Kerachut. But we only found out that, there are no sea turtle to see as it's not the season. Worst still, there are no boats from Pantai Kerachut back to the visitor center's jetty, as the wave is quite strong today. So, we just snapped a few photos over there, and leave as early as possible, else we will have to get through the forest in darkness.

With fatigued body and legs, plus the burden of 5KG that we're carrying each, we travel through the forest without much words. Anyway, we managed to get out of the forest within an hour before the sky turns dark, and we can complete the journey sound and safe, thanks God for that.

Anyway, it's a memorable journey, and I wanna thanks my brother-in-law, if without him, I would have to travel all by myself.

Below are some photos taken during the trip with Sigma AF17-70mm and my new Tamron SP90mm Di Macro.

31/8/2009 Tamron SP90mm f/2.8 Di Macro

A macro lens is always in my list, as I like to take macro, so I have decided to have one of this.

As I looked through many websites and magazines, and recommendations from friends, finally I picked up this lens from the third party lens manufacturer - Tamron SP90mm f/2.8 Di Macro.

Tamron SP90mm f/2.8 Di Macro is one of the best macro lens in the market, as I read through the magazines, it even out beats other lens manufacturer like Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony and Sigma; besides, it's the cheapest macro lens, which makes it a worthy macro lens.

28/8/2009 Smoke Trail vs Light Trail

It has been raining since last week, raining, raining and guess what? RAINING!

Though I like the cool atmosphere after the rain, yet I was unable to go out for photo shooting as my camera is not environmental seal nor it is waterproof.

So I decided to play with smoke and light at home. While this is my second time for smoke trail photography, this is also my first time for light trail photography.

Now, some light trail photos.

I have a good time for shooting these stuff, but after the fun, I now suffering the smell of the smoke again.

23/8/2009 My house's balcony again

I have planned to go to the Botanical Garden for some photo shooting today, unfortunately, after I woke up in this morning, just found out the weather was cloudy and will be raining soon, so end up, I just go back to my bed.

Thick clouds covered up the sky, going to rain soon

Later on when the sky begins to rain, I saw this fly stopped by at the balcony, so I just go as close as possible to snap the fly. Unfortunately, I do not have the real macro lens, so can't get much details on the fly

22/8/2009 My House's Balcony

Saturday, I was sick and have went home earlier from office after went to clinic. After I reached home, when I was at the balcony, I was intrigued by the good weather, so I immediately rushed to my room and fixed the kit lens back to my A200 and attached the Cokin adapter and ND grad filter unto the kit lens to snap the landscape from the balcony. Honestly, I have already never see such a fine weather for quite some time, as previously the weather is mostly hazy or cloudy, so good weather with such vivid blue sky, it's really so rare to me.

21/8/2009 Happy Fun Park

It's once a year Fun Park held besides of Queensbay Mall, Penang. There're not many rides within the Fun Park, just some ordinary rides including Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, Haunted House, Marry-Go-Round, Spinner and etc. There's also some game stalls where players can win prizes.

It's a small Fun Park to me, and nothing much to capture (maybe it's the problem of my photography skills :P), just managed to shoot a few interesting shots.

Welcome to Happy Fun Park, I wonder is it the owner will be happy to earn your money or you'll be really happy inside

Ferris Wheel, reminds me of the one in KL previously - Eye of Malaysia which has been moved to Melacca

Spinner~, spin and spin and spin and spin, I guess I might get dizzy and nausea if I go for this ride

360 Degree Spinner, this one is even more thrill than the previous one, you will experience the feeling of getting 360 degree upside down

A stall with lots of rubber duckies float on the water and float round and round, player has to catch specific one to win prizes

Last shot focus on the Ferris Wheel and the sign board before going home

15/8/2009 Sunset at Balik Pulau

It was Saturday evening, as I was heading to the house of my friend, who's staying at Balik Pulau, I stopped by at the peak of a hill to snap the sunset at Balik Pulau. Honestly, it was a bad day, as it was hot and hazy. Fortunately, I still managed to captured some nice moment of sunset at Balik Pulau.
